Is there an echo in here?  Yes there is, and it’s an integral part of MarvoHarx’s rig on his double-tap aural feast, “First Rain”.  A fan favorite and a deliciously executed delay piece, First Rain edged out the competition in November.  Which was tight…Rage_O’s arpeggiated monster One Rage and robonguitar’s lemonade-on-the-porch “Good times bros!” both could have easily won this month, but alas, there is a point system, and MarvoHarx brought home the bacon.  Thanks to all of our competitors and fans!

We are going to be doing something special for the month of December, so listen up.  There will be TWO winners in December.  One will be the standard winner, judged through the normal process by the members and the judges.  The second winner will be chosen by the judges outside of the normal contest rules – and will be named the Christmas 2008 Judge’s Favorite.  This winner will not receive the December $100 cash prize, but WILL be entitled to participate in the finals next year, just like a regular winner.  They’ll also get a cool little tag denoting them as the 2008 XMAS JUDGE’S FAVORITE.  He or she may or may not be a finalist in December, but you have to have a solo up to be considered. 

There is only ONE criteria we’ll be using to determine the winner of the Judge’s Favorite competition.  Heart.  If you don’t “get” what that means, then ya probably won’t win. 

So Happy Holidays fellow six-stringers, and good luck in December.  We hope to see a TON of solo’s up this month, because this will be your very best chance to get in on the finals action.

In yet another close month, BandeO has edged out the competition with his rockabilly "Cowboy Groove".  robonguitar made another great showing with yet another great entry (hang in there, rob!), and xmetal debuted his first Finalist showing with "cool rythm".  So congrats to BandeO, and great job to our finalists and ALL of our October entrants.

November will bring much stiffer competition than ever before, as InfamousGuitar.com has over 700 members now.  Welcome to all of our new friends from SamAsh.com, and thanks to SamAsh for helping spread the word today to its loyal customers.  We're glad to have you guys on board, tell your friends!

That's the quote from Pavlo about Jonas Tamas' winning September solo in our guitar solo contest, creatively named "Infamoousguitar - solo".  Ha!  While the name might not be radio-ready, the solo certainly was.  Jonas brought blinding legato chops, whammy-flutters, two-handed mojo and several other tricks of the trade together to form a solo that was fun to listen to and technically impressive.  So welcome to the winner's circle Jonas, and thanks to our runners-up, Rage_O and ArtK7 for giving him a run for his money.

Sorry it took a few extra days to announce the winner this month, Pavlo's on tour and y'all know how that is.  Thanks to all our soloists, and good luck next month to all!

JKennemur makes a statement with "Isle of Green"

In what turned out to be the most difficult month for the judges so far in the InfamousGuitar.com $5,000 Online Guitar Solo Contest, JKennemur has edged out the competition with his nearly flawless solo, "Isle of Green".  What made this month's judging so difficult was the vast differences among the solo's styles.  Mike Orlando made his first entrance into the finals with an absolute speed-demon shred fest (we are guessing that his fingers are still bleeding from that one), while BadJuju came back a second time with a beautiful neo-baroque piece that the judges fell in love with.

But alas, there can only be one winner, and JKennemur's well thought-out composition "Isle of Green" was executed with precision, emotion, clarity, and pure guitar grace.  Congratulations JKennemur, and well done to Bad Juju and Mike Orlando - you guys definitely earned your monthly finals spots this month, and got very, very close to winning a spot in the annual finals.  One thing is for sure, ALL of our members won this month - by being treated to three truly excellent solos.

JKennnemur and Bad Juju made the top 3 again this month in the InfamousGuitar.com Online Guitar Solo Contest, and were joined by a newcomer, Mike Orlando.  All three finalists got great member rankings...now it's up to the judges to determine who will take home this month's $100 prize - and win a chance to compete in the InfamousGuitar.com 2009 $5,000 Online Guitar Solo Contest Finals!

On Friday, August 15th, 2008, SamAsh.com and Infamous Publishing entered into an annual sponsorship agreement for InfamousGuitar.com.  InfamousGuitar.com will be kicking off the celebration by offering a $500 Shopping Spree at the new SamAsh.com, which will be rolling out on September 15th.  But if you want the shopping spree, you're gonna have to prove it...

We'll be hosting a YouTube video contest, where InfamousGuitar.com members can show just how badly they want the shopping spree.  How can you prove it?  The old fashioned way...by groveling.  Yep, that's right, if you want the shopping spree, you're gonna have to beg for it.

But you won't be begging the judges...you'll be begging Kyrsten from the band Magnuson.  Here's how it will work:

Step One:  Register and make a profile at InfamousGuitar.com.

Step Two:  Go to SamAsh.com and pick out what you'll buy with your $500.

Step Three:  Record a video of yourself or your band, begging Kyrsten for the $500 Sam Ash Shopping Spree.  You have to mention both Sam Ash and InfamousGuitar.com in your video.  Tell her specifically what you want, and why you think you deserve it. 

Step Four:  Upload the video to your YouTube acccount, and then embed it in the forum we'll create for this promotion. (We'll show you how)

At this point, your part is done.  Our members will vote on the videos, and the top three will be judged by Kyrsten - by her criteria alone.  She can choose whichever video she wants to be the winner, with no guidance from InfamousGuitar.com. 

The official contest will begin on September 1st, and entries will be accepted from September 1st through November 30th.  Member voting will continue until December 20th, and on December 21st, Kyrsten will choose the winner - who will get their $500 Gift Certificate just in time for Christmas.

For the second month in a row, a previous month's finalist has risen to the top...congratulations to yosoytudios on your victory with your killer guitar solo, "Selfiction"!  Yosoy's well deserved win achieved a great member ranking, and handily won the Judge's scoresheet as well.

Well, it was definitely a horse race in this month's guitar solo contest, and it came right down to the wire.  robonguitar made an excellent showing with "The Aliens Are Leaving Me Behind', a two handed tapmonster reminiscent of Satch, but ultimately, yosoy's awesome arpeggios, Rage_O's lovely latin picking, and JKennemur's soulful soloing have earned them a spot in the InfamousGuitar.com Hall of Fame (which we'll be rolling out this month).

Hang on tight ladies and gentlemen, we will judge the solos and announce the winner soon.  Great job to ALL of our contestants, there are several solos this month that deserve our applause.

There are a lot of great guitar solos this month as usual.  But who's gonna take home the $100, and qualify for the $5,000 Finals next year? 

We've made it easier for you to promote your solos and your music...make sure you are logged in, and go here.  You'll find custom code you can place in a MySpace comment, on your website, in your blog...or email links you can pass around to get people to come listen to your guitar solo.

Well done, Cross, for your solo "Diagram".  Cross was a finalist in May, and is living proof that if at first you don't succeed, try again!  Well done to our other June finalists, Bad JuJu and oCircleo.  We will be opening the July competition shortly, so upload your July solos when we do!  Thank you to all of our fans and guitar players who made the June contest a success.

We made it through another month, and LOTS of new guitar players and guitar fans have become members at InfamousGuitar.com.  Welcome to each of you. 

So now is where the rubber meets the road...time for YOU - our loyal members - to rank these solos to see who can make into the top 3.  The 3 highest ranked solos will be judged on June 30th by our panel of judges, and the winner will get $100 and a shot at the $5,000 Finals next year.

If any of you haven't head SquidCat's guitar solo for May yet, scroll back up and have a listen.  It's a really fun, quick, driving solo with several tasty guitar treats throughout.  And check out CRSS and yosoy's solos, too, our 2 runners-up for May.  They did a great job, and came very close to wining our first monthly guitar competition in May. 

So, we're on to June now, time flies!  There should be twice as many contestants this month, so be sure to upload as many solos as you can to help your chances.  And don't forget to go find yourself some fans and groupies...creating a following will definitely help you make the finals!  It's a lot like getting a gig in real life...the more fans you have, the bigger the venues you can play.

InfamousGuitar.com is proud to announce its three Finalists for the May 2008 Online Guitar Solo Contest. These finalists have obtained the three highest ranks as a result of InfamousGuitar.com member and fan judging. Their guitar solos will now be judged by InfamousGuitar.com, who will measure their solos in five categories: Cleanliness and Technique, Originality, Recording Quality, Emotional Response, and Overall Likeability.

The three guitar players and solos that made the finals are:

Cross' "Blue Ice", ranked 8.88 out of 10
yosoytudios' "corridors of mordor", ranked 8.83 out of 10

It's Finals Week!

The semi-finals for the May 2008 InfamousGuitar.com Online Guitar Solo Contest have arrived!  For those of you who have solos entered into the guitar contest, good luck!  Now you need to go recruit some friends to come check out your solo!

Talk to your friends, family members, co-workers, everyone you know - even complete strangers!  Invite them to become a Fan at InfamousGuitar.com and to check out your solo!  Remember, each member can only rank your solo ONCE, so the more members you invite, the more times your solo will get ranked.

The three contestants with the highest ranks will be entered into the finals on May 30th, and will have their solos judged by InfamousGuitar.com staff and a mystery judge, who will be announced on the 30th (after rankings are closed).

The winner gets $100, an entry into the Annual $5,000 Guitar Solo Contest, and a national Press Release announcing their victory.

So get to work!  Invite some friends to check out your solo!  And tell them...

...to get your solo into the May competition! Saturday, May 24th is the last day to upload a solo to become eligible for the May finals.

This will be the easiest month of all, as next month we will have twice as many players and solos out there to compete with. So take the easy pickings while you can! Get your solo out there...and if you already have one or two, add more. Players can upload 3 solos to each monthly competition, and Premium Members can upload as many as 5 solos.

As a reminder, all solos must have been originally recorded in the last 30 days, and must contain ONLY one guitar - no backing tracks. Solos must be one minute long at a maximum.

If you're a guitar player and you're not signed up yet, you're late! But we waited for ya...

...and we're getting lots of new members!  Hard to believe we've only been up for a little over a week.  We're welcoming several new members per day right now, which should put us at over 350 members by the time we're voting on our first contestants for the InfamousGuitar.com Online Guitar Solo Contest.  But with a little extra help from YOU, we can meet our goal of 1,000 members by May 31st!

Now is the time to sign up and become a member!

Whether you are going to compete, upload some songs, or just hang out with the players and listen to some killer music, InfamousGuitar.com is the place to be in April.  We will be adding our music classified section this week, revamping the guitar player profiles, adding groupie profiles, and soon we'll be having our first Groupie of the Month contest.  Stay tuned for more news…and check out our members' guitar solos, they rock!
